KOCHI:Last year's Onam bumper winner P R Jayapalan, an auto driver in Maradu continues waiting for passengers in his auto. His wife Mini works as a sweeper in Dr Padiyyar Memorial Homeo Medical College in Chottanikara. Although luck favoured him in the form of Onam bumper, his habits remain changed and he continues to do his work.
'With money received from lottery, I have bought a car and 11 cents of land in Tripunithura and Pachalat. Paid off some debt. Some money was given to siblings and close relatives. A portion was earmarked for Seva Bharati to help the poor. The remaining amount was deposited in the bank in the name of my wife and children. The money was not used for family expenses', said Jayapalan.
His eldest son Vaishakh is an electrician. Daughter-in-law Karthika is a post woman. Youngest son Vishnu is a homeo doctor. Now he joined for MBBS. The loan for auto has not been paid yet.
'Don't squander money. This is what I have to say to Rs 25 crore lucky winner of onam bumper. Everything is Lord Vishnu's blessing. I want to buy a prawn farm(Chemmeen Kettu). By this, I can give jobs to 10 people.', said P R Jayapalan.
