THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday said that the fight against drugs is not only that of the government but the society's collective life and death struggle to save the younger generation and future generations. He requested everyone to take part in the important 'No to drugs' campaign for the sake of the nation. He was inaugurating online the state-level 'No to Drugs' campaign implemented by the government to raise a public defence against drug addiction.

"The demons of drugs are waiting to prey on our children. Children should stay away from them. Adults should also ensure that they do not reach our children. We cannot let anyone to the scourge of intoxication. Those involved must be freed at any cost. Based on this realization, the government has started a campaign against drug addiction. The scourge of drugs destroys the individual, the family, social relationships and the nation. Drugs destroy the sense of discrimination that differentiates humans from animals. Drugs force people to commit atrocities that no one would commit in a conscious state. Recovery is not easy for drug addicts. It leads individuals to complete destruction that cannot be reversed even with treatment. Such persons destroy themselves and destroy families and society. The objective is to make Kerala a drug-free state. We have to win this fight anyway. Many would think that it is impossible. But, we will make it happen," the CM said.
