KOLLAM: In a counter measure to save their lives, police officials opened fire on goons who brandished a machete at them. The police came to arrest the accused in the Adoor Rest House assault case in Padappakara in Kollam on Saturday morning.

One of the accused was caught but two escaped by jumping into the lake. The police fired four rounds. As per the police officials, no one was shot.

After receiving information that three accused including Antony and Lijo were hiding in Kundara, a team led by Infopark CI Vipin Das reached Padappakara.

As the cops tried to surround the house and catch them, the accused tried to run away. When the officers ran after them, the accused brandished a machete at them. Following this, the CI fired four times in defence to save their lives. Meanwhile, Antony and Lijo escaped by jumping into the lake.
