
NEW CHANDIGARH: Punjab Kings pulled off an exciting victory over Gujarat Titans in the IPL, successfully chasing down a target of 163 runs in the final over with five balls to spare. Young Australian batter Cooper Connolly starred with an unbeaten 72 off 44 balls, guiding the team to victory after a middle-order collapse.
Punjab lost an early wicket, but a 76-run partnership between Prabhsimran Singh (37) and Connolly steadied the chase. Later, wickets fell quickly, putting pressure on the team. However, Connolly held one end firmly and finished the match with support from Xavier Bartlett (11*).
For Gujarat, Prasidh Krishna impressed with three wickets, while Kagiso Rabada, Rashid Khan and others took one wicket each.
Earlier, Gujarat Titans scored 162/6 in 20 overs. Captain Shubman Gill top-scored with 39, while Jos Buttler made 38. Despite a good start, they failed to post a bigger total.
For Punjab, Vijaykumar Vyshak took three wickets, and Yuzvendra Chahal picked up two.
