MUMBAI: With the ODI World Cup just a year away, speculation continues over whether Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will remain part of India’s plans for the tournament. Kohli addressed the topic during a recent podcast, saying his commitment to the game has never changed.

“I have always played cricket with complete dedication. My perspective is very clear. If I can add value to the environment that I am a part of and the environment feels like I can add value, I will be seen. If I have to be in a place where I have to prove my worth and value, that place is not meant to be for me,” Kohli said.

“My attitude and commitment towards cricket have never changed. I still carry the same mindset that I had when I started my career at a very young age. My training and preparation are handled with complete discipline. If the team asks me to run from boundary to boundary for 40 overs, I will do it without any complaints,” Kohli said.

The star batter explained that he does not prepare only before major series, but maintains his fitness and routine year-round. Kohli added that playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy earlier this year helped him reconnect with the joy of playing cricket.

“Even while playing in empty stadiums, I focused on enjoying my batting again,” he said.

Currently, Kohli and Rohit feature only in the ODI format for India, having already retired from T20 Internationals and Test cricket.
