Did you know, Eiffel Tower just grew 20 feet taller!

PARIS: We all have heard the story of the world’s highest peak Mount Everest growing. But, have you ever heard of a man-built monument growing? If not, hear this. The famous Eiffel Tower in Paris has grown about six metres. That is, almost 20 feet.

The Tower grew after a new digital radio antenna was attached to the top of it. A digital antenna for communication purposes was installed on top of the tower on Tuesday. With this, the height of the monument has increased from 324 metres (1063 ft) to 330 metres (1083 ft). The antenna was attached on the top using a helicopter.

The Eiffel Tower was inaugurated on March 31, 1889. At the time, the height of the tower was 312 metres (1024 ft). Since then transmission antennas were placed on the tower top several times. The height of the tower changes every time an antenna is attached to it.
