'Will be taking Kharg Island tonight'; Donald Trump issues major threat against Iran

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump threatened to launch a major attack on Iran for the third consecutive night. Trump announced his social media platform, Truth Social. The United States will launch a major attack on Iran tonight. Trump also claimed that Iran's navy, air force, radar and other defence systems have already been destroyed. Trump's new threat follows a similar warning given yesterday.

“The United States will be hitting Iran (Whose Navy, Air Force, Radar, Anti Aircraft, and all other forms of Defense, together with most of its offensive capability, are GONE!), VERY HARD TONIGHT. At some point in the not too distant future, we will be taking Kharg Island, and other oil infrastructure points, and assume total control of their Oil and Gas Markets, much like we have with Venezuela, which is working out brilliantly for both Venezuela and the United States of America. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP”

The US Central Command confirmed on Wednesday that it had carried out strikes on multiple sites in Iran. Meanwhile, local Iranian media reported that air defence systems were activated in many parts of the country and that explosions were heard in western Tehran, Fars province, Bandar Abbas, Qeshm Island, Kish, Minab and parts of central Isfahan.
