KOCHI: Actress Aishwarya Lekshmi says she is happy with her decision to stay away from social media, adding that her life is more peaceful now than when she was an active user. She opened up about her decision during an appearance on The Pooja Talwar Show.
The actress said it has been more than a year since she quit social media and that the decision has brought a significant change in her life. Although the reasons that prompted her to leave the platforms still exist, she said she no longer has to constantly encounter them or feel disturbed by them.
At the same time, Aishwarya acknowledged the opportunities social media offers actors and content creators to showcase their talent and reach audiences directly.
“Social media helps people showcase their talent directly to audiences and gain attention. Vaazha 2 has made a strong impact at the box office in Kerala, and the film’s lead actor, Hashir, is an influencer. I understand the importance of the opportunities social media offers. However, I decided to stay away from it for personal reasons,” Aishwarya said.
Aishwarya quit social media in September 2025. In a note shared at the time, she said she had long believed that social media was essential for sustaining her career as an actress. She had also felt that using these platforms was necessary to keep up with changing times.
In the same note, Aishwarya explained that she later started to feel that social media was controlling her instead of allowing her to focus on her work. She said it had affected her independent thinking and changed the way she spoke and communicated. It had also affected her ability to enjoy even the small moments of happiness in everyday life.
Aishwarya is currently busy promoting her upcoming Netflix series, Love. She is attending promotional events alongside producer Soundarya Rajinikanth and co-star Arjun Das.
