'Told him no b**** and waist shot, Ram Sir yelled at him'; Alleged Instagram chat leak triggers debate

Even after the director himself came in to apologise over the oversexualisation of actress Janhvi Kapoor in the movie ‘Peddi’, the debate over the movie is not slowing down. The director Buchi Babu Sana had earlier said that he anticipated the backlash over Kapoor’s portrayal in the movie and apologised to the audience, and said that those objectionable scenes would be edited out.

Amid this debate, an Instagram chat purportedly between Janhvi and another person got leaked through the actor’s fan page yesterday. The text messages show how she opposed the idea of being portrayed in an overly sexual way in the movie and also shared her concerns with the makers regarding the camera angles chosen by the director.

Excerpts from the text messages shared:

“Ram Sir (Ram Charan) is so sweet that he yelled at him (director) for trying such angles. I told the director no b**** and waist shot. It was Ram sir again who yelled at him and put a stop to using such angles of me in the movie. I don’t know how the movie will come out. I am returning to Mumbai”

In the movie, Janhvi played the role of Achiyyamma. More than dialogues or serious moments, the makers portrayed Janhvi’s character in a risqué way, seemingly an attempt to add spice to the movie. There were contentious situations in the movie where the male lead went to the extent of forcibly kissing the female during a power cut, thus flaunting his masochism.
