MUMBAI: BJP councillor Tejasvee Ghosalkar has urged the Railway Ministry to reserve three coaches on Mumbai local trains for Gen Z and Gen Alpha students travelling to schools and colleges. She has written to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw seeking the move.
In her letter, Tejasvee said three of the 12 coaches on local trains should be reserved for students travelling to educational institutions. She sought the reservation of these coaches from 5 am to 11 am on the Churchgate-Dahanu route and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus-Dombivli-Asangaon routes.
Tejasvee said she had personally experienced the difficulties of travelling on Mumbai local trains as a student. Reserving coaches for students, whom she described as the future of the country, would provide them with much-needed relief, she said. She also requested that the coaches be clearly marked as reserved for students.
Tejasvee Ghosalkar is a BJP councillor elected from BMC Ward No. 2. She was previously associated with the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena before joining the BJP ahead of the election.
