Delhi's crime horror shocks again: 16-year-old gang-raped, stabbed to death; body found days later

NEW DELHI: A 16-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped and stabbed to death in Delhi, with her body later abandoned in an isolated area in Swaroop Nagar. Four people, including three minors and a 19-year-old man, have been apprehended in connection with the case. The incident came to light on Sunday after local residents spotted stray dogs eating parts of the girl’s body in a field near Kushak Road. The body was found in a decomposed condition.

According to police, the girl had gone to meet a friend on September 10. The 17-year-old friend allegedly called three others, and the group travelled with the girl in a tempo. Police suspect that the girl was sexually assaulted by the group. The accused had allegedly consumed alcohol.
When the girl threatened to report the incident to police, she was allegedly stabbed to death. Police said she had suffered multiple stab injuries, with reports indicating that she was stabbed eight times. One of her hands was found severed.

Police examined footage from more than 50 CCTV cameras as part of the investigation. The footage helped investigators trace the tempo and identify the suspects. Two knives, clothes and the vehicle allegedly used in the crime were recovered.

The accused have been booked under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The incident comes about three weeks after a 16-year-old girl from Uttar Pradesh was allegedly gang-raped inside a moving bus while travelling from Greater Noida to Delhi on August 4.
