NEW DELHI: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has said that some forces are attempting to bring about regime change in India, similar to what happened in Bangladesh and France, but they will not succeed. He made the remarks while referring to recent developments in these countries and Nepal during the RSS's annual Vijayadashami programme.
His remarks come amid growing discussions about regime change in India during protests against the Election Commission.
"Major changes are taking place in Western countries. We should examine what happened in France, Bangladesh and Nepal. Similar attempts are also being made in India. However, the country is moving forward with firm determination, and the collective strength of society has grown stronger," Bhagwat said.
He said protests and public movements were natural when problems arose. However, their purpose should be to find solutions rather than create hostility in society. He also stressed the need to maintain dignity and discipline during such activities.
"Protests should not be organised merely to win votes or gain popularity. Problems cannot be solved through protests alone. Real solutions can be found through discussions and dialogue within society," Bhagwat said. He also called for vigilance against attempts to divide people and stressed the need to protect social harmony. People should not be misled by provocations, he added.
Bhagwat urged people to work towards making India a guiding nation for the world. He also highlighted the importance of protecting the country's unity and diversity.
"People should give up personal egos and clear misunderstandings about their own religious practices as well as the beliefs of others. Diversity should not be seen as a source of division," he said.
According to Bhagwat, love for the country, pride in one's ancestors and commitment to Indian culture are the three values that unite the people of India. He called on everyone to embrace these values and work together for the country's progress.
