BHOPAL: A video showing a loco pilot stopping a train to buy samosas has gone viral on social media. The incident reportedly happened at Indore in Madhya Pradesh. The visual shows a man in a blue uniform purchasing samosas from a roadside shop before returning to the locomotive cab with the food packet. The Indian Railways has now given a clarification for it.
Responding to the video, the Ratlam Division of Indian Railways clarified that the train had not been halted to buy food. The clarification was issued in response to a social media user who shared the video.
‘Dear Passenger, Goods train with loco numbers 27237 and 27600 was halted at the RAU Home Signal due to engineering work on the tracks in the RAU yard. During this halt, the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) purchased samosas and kachoris. The train was not stopped for buying food. The video has been shared with misleading intent, falsely linking the stoppage to a passenger DEMU train,’ the railways said.
Western Railway also issued a separate statement, describing the viral video as false and misleading.
