AMARAVATI: A 23-year-old man from Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri district was murdered in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district by his wife and her lover in a pre-planned attack on Tuesday. Police have arrested the victim's wife, Hasini (19), her lover, Yugandhar (20), and two of their accomplices in connection with the crime.
The victim, identified as Ramesh, was employed at a private company. He had been married to Hasini for two years, and the couple had one young daughter.
According to investigators, Hasini and Yugandhar—a childhood friend with whom she was having an affair—conspired to kill Ramesh to continue their relationship.
On Tuesday, which coincided with the new moon day (Amavasya), Hasini persuaded Ramesh to visit the Sri Malleswara Swamy Temple at Mallappa Konda. As they travelled toward the temple on a motorcycle with their child, Hasini tracked their journey by sharing her live location with Yugandhar.
During the trip, Hasini reportedly dropped her handbag, forcing Ramesh to stop the vehicle. As he pulled over, Yugandhar and two accomplices, who had been lying in wait, emerged and attacked him. Ramesh attempted to flee into a nearby forest but was pursued and hacked to death.
The case was initiated after Hasini’s mother filed a missing persons report with the police, stating that her daughter and grandchild had disappeared. Investigating officers utilised CCTV footage from the area, which provided critical evidence. The footage captured Hasini travelling on the motorcycle and later corroborated her presence with the other suspects.
Police arrested the four individuals within hours of beginning the investigation.
