BENGALURU: A doctor was found stabbed to death at his apartment in Karnataka’s Dharwad. The dead is Dr Kiran Honannavar, an anaesthetist at Chirayu Hospital. His eight-year-old son has been admitted to the hospital with serious stab injuries. The police have taken Kiran’s wife Dr Priyanka, an ophthalmologist, into custody for interrogation.
Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar said initial investigation says that no one from outside had entered the flat. He added that only three people - the husband, wife and child were in the apartment at the time of the incident. The incident came to light when relatives tried to contact Dr Kiran on phone.
Whenever the relatives called, Priyanka said that her husband was resting and later that he had gone out. However, when Kiran could not be reached on phone even in the evening, relatives grew suspicious and visited the apartment and found him lying in a pool of blood. The child was found in another room with serious stab injuries. On being informed, the police arrived and shifted the child to the hospital.
The police have started a detailed investigation to find out what happened inside the apartment. The police commissioner said that Dr Priyanka, who is presently in custody, is giving contradictory statements. The police are collecting information from the relatives of the couple to find out the exact reason for the murder.
