THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Vattiyoorkavu Ajith, president of the All Kerala Men’s Association, has been arrested by the Cyber Police following a complaint alleging that he made derogatory remarks on social media against a women’s gathering organised by the Women and Child Development Department. The complaint alleges that a video containing sexually suggestive remarks targeting women who attended the event was circulated using AI technology. The action was taken based on a complaint filed by the Director of the Child Welfare Department.
The women’s gathering was organised by the Women and Child Development Department as part of Independence Day observances under the theme ‘Resurge, Safe Women, Safe Keralam’. Authorities said derogatory content was circulated on social media by the Men’s Association after Minister Bindu Krishna announced the event at a press conference.
The gathering was organised in Thiruvananthapuram city from 9.30 pm under the leadership of the state Women and Child Development Department. The programme was held along MG Road, from University Junction to Ayurveda College Junction. The event at University College Junction was inaugurated by Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan. The gathering was organised with a focus on women’s safety and rights. The Cyber Police investigation into the incident is continuing.
