Dispute over love affair ends in violence as six-member gang hacks youths

KOZHIKODE: A dispute over a love affair ended in an altercation after a six-member gang hacked youths. Three youths were hacked by a bike borne team in Kuttiady. Shojin, Babin and Ashwin of Nittoor Mottanthara were brutally attacked by the team. They were attacked Sunday night at 10 pm by a six-member team, who came in three bikes.

Issues that broke out after a personal animosity ended in the attack. A relative of Shojin, who was injured in the attack, was in a relationship with the daughter of one of the attackers. A dispute arising from this led to a verbal altercation, following which the group that arrived on bikes attacked Shojin and his friends with machetes.

After the attack, the group fled on bikes. The local residents managed to catch one of the attackers and handed him over to the police. The one in custody is Sreejith of Narikkatteri.

The injuries sustained by the three are not serious. Shojin and Babin have been admitted to the medical college hospital, while Ashwin is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Thottilpalam. The Kuttiady police have registered a case and an investigation has started.
