CHELAKKARA: Alathur MP K Radhakrishnan said the drop in LDF's majority in Chelakkara by-polls will be examined. There is an attempt to create communal division in Chelakkara, Radhakrishnan said while talking to the media about election results.

'The votes of the BJP in Chelakkara increased in a special situation. There is an attempt to create communal division. The situation where the BJP's vote percentage increased will be examined. In the parliamentary elections, it was 28,000 and now it has increased to 33,000. The BJP is trying to influence people by using the central government. There is an attempt to create communal division in a large scale and that is why the BJP's vote percentage has increased. As soon as the elections were announced, a big campaign was conducted against the LDF. It was conducted by the BJP, UDF and DMK,' Radhakrishnan added.

In the by-election, LDF candidate U R Pradeep defeated UDF's Ramya Haridas by 12,201 votes in his second turn. Although he managed to surpass his majority (10,200 votes) in 2016, he could not reach Radhakrishnan's majority of 39,400 in 2021.
