21-year-old dies after drowning during reels shoot

ERNAKULAM: A 21-year-old student drowned while visiting a pond near the Vembilly Library at Pazhantottam to shoot social media reels. The deceased has been identified as Nabeel (21), a native of Mayyanad in Kollam. He was currently residing near Pallikkara. The incident occurred at around 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Nabeel had come to the area along with his friends Akash (21), Hisham (19), and Adil (19) to film reels. During the visit, he entered the pond for a swim and reportedly drowned. His friends attempted to rescue him but were unsuccessful. They then sought help from the Pattimattom Fire and Rescue Services. A search operation was launched by the fire force personnel and locals.

Nabeel was later taken to the Kolenchery Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead at around 7:30 p.m. His body has been shifted to the mortuary.

The search operation was led by Station Officer N.H. Asainar, along with firefighters Ranjith, C.S. Anilkumar, K.K. Bibi, Vijith, Akhil Dev, P. Mithun, P.M. Shanavas, Tommy Paul, Ramachandran, and locals.
