KOCHI: The victim in the prominent actress assault case has approached the Kerala High Court seeking a fresh investigation into the unauthorised access of a memory card containing crucial evidence. Filing a new petition through senior Supreme Court advocate Vrinda Grover, she demanded the appointment of a special investigation team to look into the illegal examination of the device and requested a thorough probe into attempts to sabotage the case.
This move follows a previous petition where the survivor challenged a fact-finding report submitted by the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court. Although the High Court had earlier dismissed her objections citing various technicalities, the survivor maintains that the initial inquiry was deeply flawed.
An earlier investigation had established that the memory card was accessed illegally on three separate occasions while in judicial custody. In her latest petition, the survivor argues that the subsequent fact-finding report holds no legal validity as it was prepared without the assistance of cyber experts or law enforcement officials, thereby necessitating a credible, comprehensive reinvestigation into the security breach.
