Lok Sabha adjourned as Opposition protests disrupt Public Examinations Amendment Bill discussion; Opposition's action is unfortunate, says Union Minister Kiren Rijiju

NEW DELHI: The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day after the Opposition's protests disrupted discussions on the Public Examinations Amendment Bill. Speaking in the House, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said the Bill was of great importance and described the Opposition's protest as unfortunate. The Public Examination Amendment Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha earlier in the day amid noisy protests by Opposition members.

The Opposition staged a protest in the Well of the House, demanding a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the police action against student protesters in Delhi. Despite repeated appeals by Speaker Om Birla, Opposition MPs refused to end their protest. The proceedings were briefly adjourned in the morning due to the protests. When discussions on the Bill resumed around 5 pm, the Opposition again raised slogans, disrupting the House, following which the Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day.
