'Onam bumper' for Bevco employees; Rs 1,05,000 bonus announced for permanent staff

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala State Beverages Corporation (Bevco) announced a 'bumper' bonus for employees during the Onam season. Like in previous years, the bonus this time is above Rs one lakh. The maximum bonus amount is Rs 1,05,000. This time, employees are getting Rs 2,500 more than last year. The decision came in a meeting held in the presence of the Excise Minister.

It was also decided in the meeting to give Rs 50,000 as an advance amount. The bonus for employment staff has been increased by Rs 250 to Rs 6250. Sweepers will also be given Rs 6,750. It was also decided to give Rs 13,000 as a bonus to security employees at the head office and warehouse.

Last year, Bevco amassed a profit of Rs 124.10 crore on March 31. However, with the introduction of the gallonage fee, Bevco incurred a loss of Rs 281.95 crore on March 31 this year. The minister assured that the gallonage issue would be studied seriously and sent to the Finance Department for approval. Last year too, the Beverages Corporation gave a record bonus to its employees on Onam. Permanent employees received a bonus of Rs 102,500 last season.
