59 lakh tickets sold, 230 crores in the government's account; Onam bumper fever in Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thiruvonam Bumper Lottery sales hit record numbers this year. 59 lakh tickets have been sold so far. The ticket with the first prize of Rs 30 crore costs Rs 500. The agents have to pay Rs 390 and 28 per cent GST to the government for one ticket. So far, the government has received Rs 230.10 crore from ticket sales. The total prize money to be distributed is Rs 125.54 crore. Rs 12.55 crore has to be set aside as agency commission. There are 18 more days left for the draw.

Onam Bumper 2026 offers the highest prize money in Kerala history. This time, the first prize, which was Rs 25 crore for the last four years, has been increased by Rs 5 crore to Rs 30 crore.

The draw will be held on Saturday, September 26. Ten years ago, the first prize was Rs 10 crore. With the increase in prize money, the demand is also on the rise.

Kerala has five main bumper lotteries, namely Onam Bumper, Christmas New Year Bumper, Vishu Bumper, Summer Bumper and Monsoon Bumper. Of these, the Onam Bumper offers the highest prize.
