THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala police beseeched the central government to ban games of violent genre that can likely make youngsters glorify barbarity. ADGP Manoj Abraham said that a recommendation in this regard has been given to the Union Home Ministry. The Center will consider this and take action.

Minding the demand of the Kerala Police to take action against applications related to financial fraud, the central government banned around 60 apps. More action will follow, emulating the same process. There is a central law to ban games that are harmful and addictive to children.

Foreign games that celebrate murder, drugs and brutal killings will likely face action. Police believe that banning these games would somehow curb the youngster’s fixation with murders and violence.

A special cyber team has been appointed to find out games of brutal genre and recommend the same with the central government. The police action came after Kerala Kaumudi reported on the games of brutal nature, now easily available to kids through mobile phones.

“Repeated watching of such scenes through games would make children acclimatize to violence. Children would likely imitate the same with no remorse,” said ADGP Manoj Abraham.
