KOCHI: The court considering the plea seeking the cancellation of the 17-year-old's bail in the Cheranalloor Benz accident has been changed. The case has been shifted from additional sessions court II to the court dealing with cases involving children and women. The police had earlier submitted a report to the court seeking cancellation of the boy’s bail. The family of Jayabalakrishnan, who died in the accident, had also approached the district court with the same demand.

The accident occurred early Sunday morning after a Benz car driven by the teenager, son of a judge hit a scooter, killing Jayabalakrishnan, 55, who was riding it. Police said the student involved in the accident is a habitual car driver. The police said he had taken the car out early in the morning to film a social media reel showing himself driving at high speed. The police have also obtained footage showing the teenager driving at speeds exceeding 104 kmph.
