Posts removed from CM’s Facebook page; CMO writes to Meta, Union IT Ministry

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has written to Meta and the Union Ministry of Information Technology over the removal of two posts from Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan’s official Facebook page. The two posts, which disappeared from the CMO Kerala Facebook page, announced the Onam festival allowance for ASHA workers and conveyed greetings on the occasion of Mawlid al-Nabi.

The CMO has asked Meta to restore the removed posts at the earliest and explain, as required under IT laws, the reasons for their removal. In a letter sent by Chief Minister’s Secretary Rathan Khelkar, the Union IT Ministry was also urged to intervene urgently to ensure that such action is not repeated in the future.

Earlier, the state police chief had sought an explanation from Meta after posts criticising the Chief Minister and the government were removed. Meta had responded that the removals were caused by a technical error.
Meta said the posts were removed due to a technical error during AI-based checks carried out to ensure the safety of the platform and compliance with its standards.
