Congress offices attacked in capital city; Anavoor mandalam committee office set on fire

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The congress offices in the capital city were attacked by unidentified people. Stones were pelted at the district congress committee (DCC) office Tuesday night. When employees arrived to open the office Wednesday morning, found that the front glass panes had been shattered in the stone-pelting. The Anavoor Mandalam Committee office was also attacked.

Following the black flag protests by Youth Congress workers against Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the BJP is staging black flag protests against Congress leaders across the state. The Yuva Morcha activists had stopped Sports Minister O J Janeesh on the road in Neyyattinkara yesterday.

The minister was stopped by Yuva Morcha activists while he was returning after attending a private function at Pathamkallu. The activists blocked his vehicle near KAL and then waved black flags at him. This led to a clash between the BJP and the Youth Congress activists. Meanwhile, Youth Congress activists pushed BJP south district president Mukkampalamoodu Biju onto the road. He sustained serious injuries to his hand and has been admitted to a private hospital.

The Congress activists alleged that the stone-pelting at the DCC office last night was part of it. Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala visited the DCC office after the incident. Speaking to the media, Chennithala strongly condemned the attacks on Congress offices.

The Anavoor Mandalam Committee office at Paliyode Junction in Neyyattinkara was set on fire by unidentified people. The building and the flex boards installed there were destroyed in the fire. The attack happened last night. The locals intervened in a timely manner and extinguished the fire.
