Salary dispute resolved: Corro Health disburses five months' compensation before winding up operations

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM/KOCHI: Corro Health has completed the layoff of 800 employees at its Kochi and Kozhikode offices, officially ending its operations in Kerala. As agreed during ministerial-level talks, the company credited five months' salary to the employees' bank accounts on Friday. The workers had already received two months' salary as compensation.

The agreement was reached after a series of meetings led by Labour Minister Bindu Krishna in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. During the discussions, company representatives made it clear that the decision to shut down operations and lay off employees would not be reversed.
The employees had initially demanded compensation equivalent to 10 months' salary. The company, however, offered only two months. Following further talks in Thiruvananthapuram, both sides agreed on an additional five months' salary, taking the total compensation to seven months' pay.

With the compensation process now complete, Corro Health has shut down all its operations in the state. The company is expected to issue the remaining documents, including experience certificates and relieving letters, to the affected employees shortly. The state government has also said it will explore the possibility of helping the laid-off employees find jobs in other organisations.
