KOCHI: The Thiruvananthapuram Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Court has granted conditional bail to RSS ideologue T.G. Mohandas following his arrest over derogatory remarks. Mohandas was arrested in connection with a case involving offensive statements directed at students protesting at Jantar Mantar in Delhi under the banner of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).

The court granted bail on the conditions that Mohandas appear before the investigating officer when required, cooperate with the investigation for the next three days and not get involved in similar offences. His lawyer had sought bail citing his age and health issues. The defence also argued that Mohandas had been arrested without being served a notice.

A cyber police team from Thiruvananthapuram travelled to Mattancherry in Kochi and took Mohandas into custody on Sunday. A team led by the inspector of the Thiruvananthapuram City Cyber Crime Wing reached his residence at Cherlayi in Mattancherry around 5 pm, following which his arrest was recorded. He was taken into custody after police examined his laptop, mobile phone and other devices.

The action followed a complaint filed by AIYF state secretary T T Jismon over Mohandas' sexist remarks and his statement calling for students and youths who protested in Delhi to be shot dead. CPI constituency secretary M K Abdul Jaleel and social activist Harris Abu had also filed complaints with the Mattancherry police.
