Death of driver, conductor in KSRTC accident; hurling of eggs suspected to have led to accident, investigation demanded

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There is suspicion of a foul play in the incident in which a KSRTC bus operating to Bengaluru met with an accident, resulting in the deaths of two employees. The cause of the accident is now suspected to be hurling of eggs. An egg was hurled on the KSRTC bus traveling on the same route the other day. In the wake of this, Minister C P John requested the Karnataka government for a detailed investigation.

The state government will ask Karnataka to conduct a forensic examination. KSRTC has also filed a complaint with the police, demanding an investigation. The KSRTC bus had overturned in the same area killing the driver and the conductor and injuring 20 on August 8.

The egg was hurled after 9 pm at Bidadi on the Bengaluru-Mysore Expressway. The thieves hurled eggs on the front windshield of a deluxe bus going from Bengaluru to Kasaragod. The attack was carried out by a five-member gang that came from the service road in two bikes. The driver, Suresh of Vellikoth in Kasaragod said that after realizing that it was a robbery attempt, he stopped the bus at a lighted place about a kilometer away. Seeing this, the attackers escaped. The bus later continued its journey after cleaning the glass.
