Kerala University postpones exams scheduled for tomorrow; Educational institutions to remain shut

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala University postponed the exams scheduled for tomorrow after the state government declared a holiday for educational institutions in view of the World Cup final. The authorities said that the revised date will be announced later.

The government declared a holiday for all educational institutions in the state tomorrow due to the World Cup final. The holiday is also applicable to educational institutions, including professional colleges. The holiday was allowed in view of the World Cup football final, and the massive fandom witnessed among youngsters in the state.

The World Cup final between Argentina and Spain will start at 12.30 tonight. If the match ends at the scheduled time, it will be 2.30 am on Monday. It will be 3 am on Monday when the award ceremony culminates. However, if the final goes into extra time and a penalty shootout, the match will go well past 5 am. The timezone difference may deprive many children of their sleep, and they would have to appear at school the next day looking sluggish. It is to avoid such a situation that the government declared a holiday for schools and colleges. Education Minister N Shamsuddin has also shared a Facebook post in this regard.
