THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Transport Minister C P John expresses regret over his controversial remarks on women. The minister said that he did not intend to humiliate anyone and if his words have hurt anyone, he formally expressed regret.
‘It is clear that there was no intention to insult or demean anyone. After all, it was we who launched the Priyadarshini scheme. It is one of the most prestigious programmes of the UDF government, and it will continue to move forward. We behave without any form of discrimination towards women. Every woman has the right to travel on Priyadarshini services without any discrimination. That right is not anyone's charity. The Priyadarshini scheme is a flagship initiative of the government, and we will take it forward effectively.’
I said certain words on Tuesday that should not have been said. I should have been more careful. If my remarks have hurt or offended anyone, I formally express my regret. I accept the criticism from the people. I have no ego about it,’ said Minister C P John.
