Former Chittur MLA K Achuthan passes away

PALAKKAD: Former Chittur MLA and senior congress leader K Achuthan passed away. He was 76. He was undergoing treatment for health-related issues for the past few days.

He was elected to the Kerala Legislative Assembly in 1996, 2001, 2006 and 2011 representing the Chittur constituency.

Achuthan was also well known as a farmer, cooperative sector activist and politician. He had served as the president of the Thathamangalam Service Cooperative Bank and as the chairman of the Chittur-Thathamangalam Municipality. Several prominent figures from the political and social spheres expressed their condolences.

He leaves behind his wife, C K Sudha, and children, Sumesh Achuthan MLA, and Sheeba A.
