THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A little relief during Onam season is a welcome one as gold prices witnessed a fall in the state today. Gold prices dipped by Rs 20 per gram. With this, the price of one gram of gold reached Rs 15,010. The rate of one sovereign of gold decreased by Rs 160 to Rs 1,20,080. The fall in rates seems to be a relief since the rates were showing signs of surging in the last few days.
Yesterday, the price of a gram increased by Rs 80 to Rs 15,030. The rate of one sovereign of gold increased by Rs 640 to Rs 1,20,240. Last year, on August 24, the price of a sovereign of gold was Rs 74,520. That is an increase of 62 per cent in the price in a year. Yesterday, a 17 per cent increase was recorded from the low rate in June.
The price of silver fell by Rs 10 to Rs 265 per gram. The market price is Rs 2,650 for 10 grams and Rs 26,500 for 100 grams. Today, one kilogram of silver will cost Rs 2,65,000.
