Govt to bear medical expenses of cops who lost legs in accident, Rs 5 lakh sanctioned in first phase

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has directed to sanction money from the police welfare bureau for the treatment of cops, who lost their legs in an accident while on highway patrol duty in Kasargod.

An amount of Rs 5 lakh each will be sanctioned in the first phase. The cops identified as Suraj and Aloysius are undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Mangaluru. The home minister has sought details of their health condition. Directions were also given to ensure that they receive the best possible medical care.

The minister also instructed to provide them with suitable postings when they return to duty after treatment. The minister informed that cops involved in accidents while on duty will be given special care.

The cops sustained injuries when a car rammed into a police jeep that had been parked during highway patrol duty near Kanhangad.
