KANNUR: Amid the Communist Party of India (Marxist) raising strong protests against the state government on the issue related to the Vizhinjam agreement, party central committee member EP Jayarajan, unlike his peers, took a different stance. He said that the issue related to the agreement should not be controversial, and doing so will not be beneficial for Kerala. Jayarajan asked those raising objections to clarify themselves.
"Don't get into a controversy in Vizhinjam. It is not good for Kerala. There is a new tendency to create controversies out of everything. The ruling front, the ministers and the Chief Minister are not interested in governing. They are very interested in creating controversies and disputes. Therefore, the state government should show interest in completing the work of the Vizhinjam port as per its contractual terms as soon as possible. There should be an effective intervention from the government to protect the interests of the state without deviating from the contractual terms. It is not good for Kerala to get into a controversy over Vizhinjam. Therefore, all the ministers should pay close attention to that matter," Jayarajan said.
He also responded to the allegations of corruption raised by CPM Kannur District Secretary KK Ragesh and others on the issue.
“The allegations should be investigated by the relevant ministers, vigilance and other institutions. I have not raised the allegations. It would be better to clarify the matter by asking those who raised the allegations," Jayarajan said.
