KOLLAM: Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar praised Kerala Kaumudi, saying the vernacular had made crucial contributions to the development of the country. Arlekar was inaugurating the 115th anniversary celebration of Kerala Kaumudi held at the Ashram, Sree Narayana Cultural Complex. The Governor presented Kerala Kaumudi's tribute to SNDP Yogam General Secretary Vellappally Natesan, who received the Padma Bhushan.
The contribution of the media in the development of the nation is not small. But some media outlets stay away from supporting development. Nothing related to the country’s development makes it to the front page of the newspapers. Even if the development is good, it is interpreted badly. In contrast, Kerala Kaumudi has worked for the development of the society with a long-term vision for the last 115 years. That is why Kerala Kaumudi has become a mainstream newspaper in Kerala.
The contribution made by SNDP Yogam General Secretary Vellappally Natesan in promoting Sree Narayana Darshan and uplifting the backward classes is exemplary. The nation has awarded him the Padma Bhushan in recognition of such contributions. Society does not grow alone. It grows through the contributions of a group of people. The contribution of such people will strengthen the rest of the society”
N.K. Premachandran MP presided over the function. Kerala Kaumudi Chief Editor Deepu Ravi presented Kerala Kaumudi's gift to the Governor. SNDP Yogam General Secretary Vellappally Natesan, B.B. Gopakumar MLA and Preethi Natesan spoke. Kerala Kaumudi Kollam Unit Chief and Resident Editor S. Radhakrishnan welcomed the gathering.
