Holiday declared for govt school as giant wasps’ nest poses threat

KOCHI: Authorities declared a holiday after a large wasp nest was found on the school building. The incident happened at Government UP School, Vaduthala in Ernakulam. The massive wasp nest was found attached on the roofing sheets of the school building. The wasps were seen swarming around the premises when parents arrived at the school with their children in the morning.

The wasps started flying around the school premises after some parts of the nest were damaged in the rain that lashed last night. With this, the parents expressed concern. The teachers later declared the school closed. The process of removing the nest has not started presently. The nest will be safely removed by night under the leadership of the councilors. After that, there will be normal classes tomorrow.
