Tragic end on birthday; Two IT professionals die as bike rams into divider in Thiruvananthapuram

VIZHINJAM: Two IT professionals met with a tragic death while on their way to celebrate birthday in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday. The accident happened near the Kovalam bypass when the bike they were travelling on hit a divider and an iron post. The victims were identified as Naveen Sibi (25), a testing department employee at UST Global Company, a native of Vazhappally, Ernakulam and Mridula Ann Oommen (25), daughter of Oommen Varghese, an associate engineer at EY Company, native of Thodupuzha, Muttom.

The accident took place near the Thiruvallam toll plaza on the bypass at around 3.30 pm yesterday. The two were coming from the city towards Kovalam. Mridula died on the spot. Naveen died after reaching the hospital. SHO Biju said that they are investigating whether the bike they were riding lost control after hitting another vehicle. Nearby CCTV cameras are being examined.

July 9th was Naveen's 25th birthday. To celebrate it, both of them took leave from the office yesterday afternoon and came to Kovalam for lunch. The duo studied together in college and had remained close friends. Naveen came to work in Thiruvananthapuram two years ago, and Mridula three years ago. Friends who worked with her said that Mridula was about to go home on Thursday.
