PUNE: Uncertainty looms over the Sambhajinagar tragedy that seems to unveil a new plot twist every 24 hours. 18-year-old Kunal Chandgude lost his life along with his parents after falling off a cliff on August 21. Kunal had threatened to commit suicide, standing on the edge of the cliff, but things turned worse when his father tried to drag him back but ended up falling from the cliff along with his son. Witnessing this, Sangita, Kunal's mother, jumped to her death, leaving all bystanders in stunned silence.
It was assumed that a dispute over paying EMI for a new iPhone led to the suicide threat and then the tragedy. Now, Sangita’s sister Pallavi Patil uploaded a video denying the iPhone rumours. Patil said that her social media is now filled with fake news regarding the deaths.
“You people are sharing your opinion, but you know nothing. You don’t know the truth behind this. You are not even aware of the pain you have caused us by peddling fake narratives. We are at a juncture, not even sure how to take life forward. My parents are old, and they don’t want to hear any such fake news. Please take it as a request,” said Pallavi.
Muralidhar, Kunal’s father, was a truck driver, while Sangita was a homemaker. The couple lost their elder son six years ago to an illness, and discord brewed between them. The two then started living separately. Muralidhar would be away from home for months.
On the last day, he returned home, which triggered a fight between the couple. In a viral video now surfaced, Sangita was heard saying how she and her son were denied the sake of property, happiness and peace. Without mentioning any name, Sangita even cursed the person.
The probe is now focusing on Sangita’s YouTube channel with 29000 subscribers. It is also reported that Kunal attempted suicide from the same cliff a year back. It was the timely action by the police that helped convince the teen to drop his plans and return with his mother.
