KOCHI: The police have registered the statement of the survivor in the Kalamassery gangrape case. She told police that she was brutally abused by many including Saranya alias Ammu. The survivor also identified the other three accused-- Sreeraj, Jith Martin and Sanju.

A team led by Thrikkakara ACP registered the statement of the woman undergoing treatment at the Kalamassery Medical College. She told police that it was Saranya who abused her the most. The investigation team found that Sanju, who was arrested stood guard during the gangrape. Reports say the two are friends of Sreeraj, the main accused in the case.

Meantime, the police will collect evidence with the accused Sreeraj and Jith Martin. Saranya joined the spa six months ago. The survivor’s husband alleged that there are more accused in the case. A detailed investigation will be conducted into it.

The police were not able to register the statement of the survivor due to health issues and severe mental stress following the incident. Kochi city police commissioner Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar said the survivor is presently cooperating with the investigation.

The commissioner added that based on the victim's statement of being assaulted after being drugged, the police have launched an investigation into the suspects' goonda connections and the source of the drugs. He also clarified that, in the wake of the incident, they will consider making police clearance mandatory for spa employees.
