Rs 10,000 Onam advance for KSRTC employees; pensioners to get Rs 1,250 festival allowance

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Transport Minister CP John announced the allocation of Rs 33.92 crore for the distribution of festival allowance and advance to KSRTC employees and pensioners on the occasion of Onam.

Rs 21.5 crore has been allocated to KSRTC as per a special cabinet decision to provide an Onam advance of Rs 10,000 to permanent employees. Onam salary advance was not provided after 2023. Rs 5.32 crore has also been allocated as special financial assistance to provide a festival allowance of Rs 1250 to pensioners. This is the first time since 2019 that KSRTC is providing an Onam allowance to pensioners.

Minister C.P. John announced that the cabinet decided to provide Onam festival benefits, considering the sincerity and dedication of the employees despite battling the severe financial crisis.
