Lightning whirlwind lash Thrissur; house’ truss work blown away, loss of lakhs estimated

THRISSUR: The truss work of a house has been completely blown away in the lightning whirlwind that struck Kuttur. The incident happened at around 10.40 pm last night. Trees were also uprooted in the extremely strong lightning whirling that struck Kuttur Thavalakulam area of Kolazhi panchayat. There were strong wind and rain.


The truss covering the iron sheets on the roof of Gopalan's house in Chittath Parampil was blown away in the whirlwind. The blown sheets fell about 100 meters away. At the time of the incident, there were small children in the house. The children screamed in fear after hearing the loud noise. No one was injured in the incident. The truss was built on a 2,000 square foot area at a cost of about Rs 5 lakh.
