THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Candidates on the Kerala PSC's LPST rank list, who are yet to receive appointments, have intensified their protest at the state capital. The protest entered its 113th day on Monday, with the candidates stepping up their agitation. Protest committee convener Valarmathi tonsured her head as part of the protest. She also announced that the candidates would launch an indefinite hunger strike.
The rank holders had earlier warned that they would tonsure their heads and begin a hunger strike if the government failed to take a favourable decision. However, with no positive response from the government, they have decided to intensify their agitation.
Their main demands include immediate appointments for eligible candidates on the PSC rank list, revising the student-teacher ratio to 1:25, and bringing appointments in aided schools under the PSC to end appointments allegedly made by accepting bribes.
