Moving bus catches fire in Kannur; narrow escape for passengers

KANNUR: A private bus moving through Valakkai caught fire and was completely destroyed on Friday. The incident occurred around 12.30 pm. The fire reportedly started from the engine section of the bus. After noticing smoke rising from the engine, the driver immediately pulled the bus to the side of the road and asked all passengers to get down from the vehicle. As a result, everyone escaped safely without any injuries.

The bus, named Thelakkadan, operates on the Taliparamba-Iritty route. By the time passengers got out, the fire had spread rapidly across the vehicle.

Fire and Rescue Services personnel from Taliparamba reached the spot and brought the blaze under control. However, the bus was completely gutted by the time the fire was extinguished. A short circuit is suspected to be the preliminary cause of the fire.
