THIRUVANTHAPURAM: CPM State Secretary and Politburo member MV Govindan defended the remarks made by Leader of the Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan regarding the electoral defeat in Taliparamba and Payyannur.

MV Govindan defended Pinarayi, saying that the leader only explained how people misunderstood LDF in the election.

“Members have no right to vote against party candidates. What Pinarayi did was to critically point out the party cadres not supporting the candidates.” Govindan said this in a press conference.

Meanwhile, when asked whether it was the party or the people who committed a mistake in the elections, M V Govindan tactfully chose silence.

Meanwhile, M V Govindan rejected the misogynistic statement made by religious figure Kanthapuram. Govindan denounced the statement and added that the Indian Constitution guarantees equality between men and women and highlighted that this equality was achieved through struggle.
