KOCHI: The bail plea of prime accused, Suhail Sajeev, and the co-accused in the Mini Cooper accident case at Nedumbassery was rejected by the court on Saturday. This decision was issued by the Angamaly Magistrate Court. The court denied bail to four accused individuals, including Suhail Sajeev.

Specifically, the bail applications of the first accused, Suhail; the second accused, Ninav; the third accused, Joel; and the fourth accused, Ameen, were rejected.

Arguments on the bail plea concluded on Friday. The defence contended that a conspiracy was hatched against the accused. They questioned how an individual named Priyad—who provided a statement—came into the scene, and how he was in a position to offer an initial statement. The defence further argued that the accident was invited due to the reckless driving by three youngsters on a scooter without wearing helmets.

The prosecution argued that the investigation is at a critical stage and the accused being financially well-off, granting them bail could adversely affect the probe. The accident, which shocked the entire region, occurred in the early hours of last Sunday on the VIP Road at Nedumbassery Airport. Three individuals—Iyas, Devika, and Gopika—were tragically killed when they were struck by a Mini Cooper that was being driven at high speed, allegedly by Suhail under the influence of alcohol.
