THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A fresh controversy has emerged in connection with the scuffle between Chirayinkeezhu MLA Ramya Haridas and Congress workers. The fresh allegation is that Ramya Haridas misled the KPCC disciplinary committee. When the inquiry commission entrusted by the party asked her to appear for collecting information related to the dispute, Ramya informed them that she would be going to Delhi.
Ramya had informed the three-member inquiry committee headed by M M Hassan that she would be attending official programmes in Delhi as well as a seminar in Faridabad, and that a room had been booked for her at Kerala House for this purpose. However, reports emerged that Ramya was in Palakkad yesterday. She had reportedly informed the committee that she would travel to Delhi on a flight scheduled for 7:20 pm on Sunday. However, visuals surfaced showing the MLA attending a function at the residence of Palakkad DCC president A Thankappan.
A vehicle of Kerala House that had arrived at the airport to receive her returned after Ramya failed to arrive. It has also been confirmed that Ramya was in Palakkad until the early hours of Monday. Reports also indicate that she met AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal yesterday.
The allegation now being raised is that Ramya attended the function in Palakkad by misleading the Congress leadership and the inquiry commission under the pretext of travelling to Delhi.
