Chirayinkeezhu Scuffle: KPCC warns Ramya Haridas and district panchayat member Sajith

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee warned MLA Ramya Haridas and District Panchayat member Sajith Muttappalam over the scuffle the two were involved in Chirayinkeezhu. This action follows the report submitted by an inquiry committee led by former KPCC President M.M. Hassan concerning the incident, which caused significant embarrassment to the Congress party.

Leaders, including Ramya Haridas, were given strict instructions not to repeat such incidents and to refrain from making any statements on the matter—whether to the media or otherwise. The KPCC also directed Ramya Haridas and Sajith to immediately withdraw the police cases filed in connection with the incident.

Reports indicate that the inquiry committee expressed dissatisfaction with both the MLA and the opposing faction for approaching the police without informing the DCC president or the local leadership. The KPCC also issued a strict directive that Palayam Pradeep—an aide of Ramya Haridas who has been at the centre of controversies—should not be included in the MLA's personal staff.

Palayam Pradeep and Sajad—a local leader who was with Sajith—had previously been suspended from the party's primary membership. The KPCC also appointed a four-member committee to resolve the disputes between the local Congress leadership in Chirayinkeezhu and the MLA. Reports indicate that the committee will summon both factions to hold reconciliation talks.
