
PATHANAMTHITTA: In view of the continuing heavy rainfall across Kerala, authorities have declared a holiday for all educational institutions in Kannur and Pathanamthitta districts on Monday, August 3. The holiday applies to all educational institutions, including anganwadis, religious study classes, tuition centres, special classes, and professional colleges.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts on Sunday.
According to the IMD, a coastal trough extends from the south Gujarat coast to the north Kerala coast, while another trough stretches from north Karnataka to Kanyakumari via south Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. A cyclonic circulation also persists over central Rajasthan. Under these conditions, rainfall is likely to continue across Kerala until August 6.

The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall at isolated places in the districts under Yellow Alert. Heavy rainfall refers to 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain within 24 hours, according to the IMD.
